Row Houses at One End, Towers at the Other
Greenpoint splits cleanly in two, and the half you are moving from decides how the day runs. We have been working this end of Brooklyn since 1979.
Shared Staircases and Waterfront Towers
Most of the neighbourhood is two and three family row houses — a stoop, a narrow hall, and stairs shared with whoever lives above you. These are straightforward moves that take longer than people budget for, because a shared staircase means working around a neighbour’s front door and rarely having room to set anything down.
The waterfront end is the opposite: new-build towers with freight elevators, loading bays, booked time slots and a Certificate of Insurance required before anyone gets past the lobby. Ours is included and goes directly to management. The elevator reservation has to come from you.
The row houses are where the real Greenpoint knowledge pays. Ceiling heights are lower than Park Slope’s brownstones, hallways are tighter, and the turn from the front door into the stairwell is frequently the narrowest point in the whole move. Bed frames and sectional sofas come apart here more often than not, and that is included rather than added to the bill.

Narrow Streets and a Single Train
Greenpoint’s residential streets are narrow, kerb-parked on both sides, and in several places effectively one lane once a truck stops. That is manageable — it is our neighbourhood too — but it means the truck’s position gets decided by the block rather than by preference, and the carry can be longer than you expect.
Tell us the cross streets when you book. Manhattan Avenue and the wider commercial stretches are far easier for a truck than the residential blocks running toward the water, and there is often a better approach than the front door.
Worth knowing if you are moving here rather than out: Greenpoint is served by a single subway line. It shapes when the streets are busy and it is the main reason people underestimate how long a mid-afternoon weekday move takes. Morning starts are calmer.

What a Greenpoint Move Costs
Greenpoint’s narrow one-way blocks decide where the truck can stand, and a serious estimate prices the distance from that spot to your door before moving day, not after. The ranges below are 2026 Brooklyn market estimates by home size. Hours are never subject to a minimum, and a single guaranteed price for the full job can be agreed in writing instead.
| Move Size | Typical Inventory | Market Estimate | Estimated Time |
|---|---|---|---|
| Studio | Studio in a row house | $350–$800 | 2–3 hours |
| 1 Bedroom | One-bedroom, row house upper floor | $450–$1,100 | 4–5 hours |
| 1 Bedroom | One-bedroom, waterfront elevator building | $450–$1,100 | 3–4 hours |
| 2 Bedroom | Two-bedroom row house floor | $800–$1,800 | 5–6 hours |
| 3 Bedroom | Full floor-through household | $1,200–$2,800 | 6–8 hours |

What Comes as Standard
Certificate of Insurance
Included at no extra charge, issued directly to your building’s management company. Most managed buildings will not let a crew through the door without one.
Wrapping and Protection
Moving blankets, shrink wrap and tape. TV boxes and picture bins are included rather than sold to you on the day.
Disassembly and Reassembly
Beds, tables and shelving taken apart at one end and put back together at the other, in the room you want them.
Fuel and Tolls
Included in what we quote. No mileage surcharge, no separate line item for the drive.
Loading and Unloading
Both ends handled by the same crew, so nothing is handed off and nothing gets lost between two addresses.
Basic Insurance
Standard coverage on every move, with additional protection available if you are moving something you cannot replace.
Greenpoint Moving — Frequently Asked Questions
On 2026 Brooklyn market estimates, a Greenpoint studio usually comes in at $350–$800, a one-bedroom at $450–$1,100, and a two-bedroom at $800–$1,800 — with the truck’s parking spot and the walk to your door moving the number more than the neighborhood does. No minimum hours. Ask for a written estimate.
The newer waterfront buildings do, almost without exception. The older row houses usually do not, because there is no management company. Ours is included either way and we issue it straight to the building.
Almost always, but position matters more here than in most of Brooklyn. Greenpoint’s residential blocks are narrow and parked on both sides. Tell us the cross streets when you book and we will plan the approach — there is often a better option than stopping directly outside the door.
Yes, and it is most of what we do here. Shared stairs mean working around a neighbour’s door with nowhere to set anything down, so furniture comes apart more often than in a wider building. Disassembly and reassembly are included.
Two to three weeks for most moves. If you are moving into one of the waterfront buildings, book the freight elevator the day your date is confirmed — those slots go faster than our calendar does, especially at end of month.
No. There is no minimum on any move we do. If it takes two hours, that is what you pay for.
No. An item list plus the details of both buildings is enough for a binding estimate. If you would prefer to show us, we offer a video walkthrough or an in-person visit, but neither is required.
We store your belongings between the two dates and deliver when your new place is ready. Storage starts at $50 a month, climate controlled, and we handle collection and delivery.
