Pricing and Payment
1. Which payment methods does Big Apple Moving accept?
Big Apple Moving accepts payments via credit or debit cards through our secure online portal. Additionally, we also welcome certified checks and cash payments.

To secure your moving date, a 25% deposit through our online payment system is required. This amount is then deducted from your total moving expenses. The outstanding balance should be settled three business days prior to your reserved moving date.
3. What’s the procedure if I decide to cancel my move with Big Apple Moving?
If you would like to cancel your move, please inform us at least 72 hours in advance. Your deposit will be processed for a full refund, which you should receive within 2-5 business days.
4. How does Big Apple Moving pricing work, flat rate compared to hourly rate?
To ensure there are no unexpected costs on the day of your move (we understand the importance of staying within budget), Big Apple Moving offers a guaranteed pricing model. This means that the guaranteed price is derived from the list of items you’re moving, the ease of truck access, and the distance between the starting and destination points. We are also pleased to offer an hourly pricing model, The hourly model is like a taxi meter you pay for.

As mandated by the Department of Transportation, We automatically provides the basic coverage for your items at a rate of $0.60 per pound for each article. For additional coverage, you have the option to contact and add a third-party insurer.

It’s advisable to reach out to us between 1 to 4 weeks prior to your intended move date, taking into account your move size. That being said, Big Apple Moving is fully committed to accommodating last-minute requests the same.
3. What time should I expect the movers to arrive?
Big Apple Moving typically provides an arrival window for their movers, rather than a fixed time. This window is generally communicated in advance and is meant to accommodate any unforeseen delays that may arise. It’s recommended to confirm this arrival window directly with our customer care a day before your move to ensure you have the most accurate timing.

As much as we would love to let you ride shotgun, Regrettably, we cannot permit this due to safety protocols and insurance restrictions.

7. How long will my move take?
The duration of your move depends on several factors including the distance between your old and new location, the amount of belongings being moved, and the specific services you’ve requested (like packing and unpacking). Local moves might take a day, while long-distance moves could take several days. Weather, traffic, and unexpected delays can also impact the timeline. 15. Can Big Apple Moving move my valuable or irreplaceable items?
Unfortunately, we do not handle the transportation of high-value items such as jewelry, precious metals, personal financial records, vehicle keys, insurance documents, cash, prescribed medications, identification documents or other important documents. We strongly recommend securely storing these items during the moving process and personally transporting them to your new location.
16. Do you charge for wrapping and protecting my items?
No, Big Apple Moving includes the cost of wrapping and protecting furniture as part of our moving services.
17. What’s the suggested tip amount for the moving crew?
The TIP is 100% at the customer’s discretion, in NYC for local moving services, it’s customary in the industry to consider a tip ranging from 10-20% of your move’s total cost.
